Summary
The marine and fisheries strategic outcome is: sustainably managed and protected oceans, seas, coasts and inland fisheries and their ecosystems. The business plan has the following priorities to help achieve the aims: • Conserve and protect UK and European marine ecosystems and freshwater and migratory fish through sustainably managing them • Help the marine fisheries sector to secure a long term sustainable and profitable future • Promote good management and governance of waters in Europe and internationally, including maintaining the moratorium on commercial whaling • Develop and deliver a Marine Bill • Monitor the state of the marine environment and secure appropriate evidence on which to base our policies and decision making • Strengthen and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
