Summary

This report presents an objective and informed assessment of the quality of a sample of typical ESs supporting recent (1999-2002) applications for marine aggregate extraction. This review was undertaken to identify particular areas of weakness in ESs and make recommendations that would lead to the improvement of future such ESs. The review is also intended as a baseline against which future trends in the quality of ESs might be assessed.
