Summary

Currently the options available to operators of offshore wind turbine installations are based on access solutions that use either boat landings, which are known to be dangerous in anything other than benign conditions, or helicopters, which are expensive and involve an element of danger for personnel. The objectives of this project were to develop an offshore wind turbine access system that offers improved safety of personnel accessing offshore wind turbines and using simple, robust equipment that would not present a burden to the facility owners and operators.
