Summary

In November 2000 the Government published Modern Ports, the first comprehensive statement of policy for ports in the United Kingdom since 1964. It sets out initiatives for Government action over a wide range of subjects that affect everyone who uses or works in the country’s ports. The speakers at this conference are experts in their fields and will update you on progress in several of these areas, showing why you should take this seriously, and discuss how ports policy might evolve in response to developments in the ports and shipping industries.
