Summary
The Securing the Benefits report responds to recommendations made in the Net Benefits report, which was published in 2004 by the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit. Net Benefits was commissioned after the state of cod stocks led to the introduction of limitations on the amount of time fishing vessels could spend at sea, and in turn to significant decommissioning of UK boats.
Securing the benefits has been developed by all four fisheries administrations in the UK and sets out a range of measures to secure a sustainable future for the fishing industry.
